Game of the Year 2011

I believe this past year was the best year in gaming since 2007. So many great games and plenty more that I never got the chance to get my hands on. It was a long debate between myself and myself, but I finally managed to piece together my top ten games of 2011. So many games! I just hope that there's time in 2012 to play through some of these again!

Best Game I Didn't Play of the Year
Game of the Year 2011

There are plenty of excuses I can make for not playing such amazing titles, but really I'd just be lying to myself. While I was still able to play plenty of stellar games this year, sometimes I miss out on some true gems that should make my Game of the Year list or at least make a worthy attempt. Some of the titles on last year's list I eventually got around to like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Rock Band 3, so hopefully I'll play each of these titles in 2012.

Worst Game of the Year
Game of the Year 2011

Last year I had to give this prestigious award to an otherwise average title. Thankfully(?) I played several games that were much, much worse in 2011. If it weren't for the glorious draw of achievements, points and trophies, I would've never had the opportunity to write this category. Sometimes there are games that are so bad I simply have to put down the controller and tear the disc out of the system as quickly as possible.

Most Disappointing Game of the Year
Game of the Year 2011

The most disappointing games of every year aren't always necessarily the "worst" games. In fact, some are still fairly commendable. Final Fantasy XIII, for instance, the "winner" of last year's award was still a gorgeous epic spanning dozens of hours of, albeit tiresome, gameplay. Sometimes it pains me to give this award out to an otherwise good title, but that's not what the award is about. While a title can still be enjoyable, there's still the chance that it can ultimately turn out to be one of the biggest disappointments of the year.

Whoops! I Saw Skyline

It's been a while since either of us have written a "Whoops!" article, or any other article for that matter. So I thought I would kick it off with a little something extra. A sort of "Live Blog", if you will. The subject, as I've pointed out, is the film Skyline. I never really had high hopes for it aside from the fairly chilling teaser trailer. Once it was out of theaters and available on Blu Ray and DVD, I thought that it would blend into the obscurity of my brain. Fortunately or unfortunately, the film's rights were soon scooped up by Netflix and put on their instant streaming service. We all know that means I won't be able to help myself.

Without further ado, let's jump right into this low-budget sci-fi thriller from The Brothers Strause. I'll keep it relatively spoiler-free.
